Announcing the KSW “Green Living” Home Palette

ksw-green-living-home-palette

It finally feels like things are getting back to normal around here – and well, you know what they say about normal. Nothing stays the same. KSW is finally getting to a point where we can start new features, follow up on old ones, and begin to share big pieces of news that’s coming your way. Before we reveal all of our secrets – let’s get back to a feature we think is going to be something truly special. The KSW “Green Living” Home project – if you’re new to the site (and many of you are – thanks to all the great new readers out there) you may not remember this project we tried to kick off back in September. Here’s a bit of a refresher, to help us all ease into the transition of leaving a smaller mark on the planet – we thought we’d get the ball rolling by enlisting the help of our readers to design a one-of-a-kind, truly special Green Living home.

Bimini Series

We chose the Bimini model and will be using its existing floor plans to get started. In the past readers were a bit reluctant to make inputs, but have no fear – this time we’re going to give you a few great ideas to get the creative juices flowing. Stay tuned over the next few days as I share some inspiration photos with you on the path I would like to see this project take. Hopefully, you’ll answer back with a few of your own ideas and photos. Well enough jibber jabber already, here’s the color palette we’re working with. I hope you like it. The best part of virtual decorating is – it’s very easy to change. We can always add to or subtract as we see fit – I just thought these fresh colors would help get us started.

Sorry the posting has been a bit sporadic but there are a lot of changes going on behind the scenes of Kid ~ Stuff ~ World. We hope to unveil them to you very soon. Look forward to several new features and a more defined focus for you readers who are wondering where we’re coming up with all these seemingly unrelated ideas.

For now, take a moment to check out all the fabulous colors available from EarthBorn paints, the UK’s leading brand of eco-paints and let us know if anything leaps out at you. We’ll stick with the obvious Beach Cottage vibe this home is putting off in our overall design plans.

More from me after while, I’m making my trans-atlantic flight tomorrow, have a great weekend

And The Winner Is …

The Kids ~ Stuff ~ World Green Living Home is the Bimini from Palm Harbor homes. It was a close contest, but the Bimini won by a mere 6 vote margin. We’re so excited to kick this series off, but, we’re all going to have to wait one more day. As for tonight, check out the home and start thinking about all the Green possibilities we can come up with.

Our Readers Say Size Matters

We’ve gotten a lot of feedback on the KSW’s Green Living home project. The overall consensus seems to be that we have chosen a home too large, that does not embrace a truly sustainable lifestyle. Yes, you are right. We chose the biggest, most gorgeous, spacious home we could find for multiple reasons. One- Our target audience is not necessarily fully converted to the green way of living, our job is to help point them in the right direction. 2. Kids is the first word in our title and therefore we will need plenty of space for Kids Stuff (see first two words in Title) 3. The bigger the house, the more stuff we can put inside of it. There is a far greater potential for our readers to investigate the furnishings, supplies, and decor than there is the home itself. 4. This is a virtual project – we aren’t really exhausting any resources (except the energy you use on your PC and for your internet connection)

Still, your opinions matter to us. We figure if all goes well with this project, perhaps we can do a more down-to-earth version next. We are also planning a Green Living Pantry project coming very soon. We hope you understand and still follow along as we progress.

Latest Update:

The Solaro home is currently in the lead by 6 votes. The final decision will be made on Sunday, 31 August so cast your vote now (comment or email us at kidsstuffworld@gmail.com)
Solaro

Don’t count the Bimini out yet, it’s won several awards for its stellar Green Design, and just to clear up any confusion the front door leads to the living room, not the master bedroom like the floor plan eludes to. The floor plan is actually shown kind of backwards from the Solaro model.

We look forward to hearing from each of you!

TaaDaa, A New Series …

Kids Stuff world is happy to announce a new series in our “World” category (Use the link to the right to see our other World post). We think we’ll call it Kids Stuff World’s Virtual Green Living Home, but hey we’re women and therefore subject to change things at a moments notice. Inspired once again by the ever beautiful, Jennae of Green Your Decor. We’ve decided to decorate our very own virtual Kids Stuff World Green Living home.

What does all this mean. It’s really quite simple. Let us explain.

We’ll select an energy award winning modular home built to green living standards to decorate and fill with environmentally friendly furniture, decor, and accessories over the next several months. We’ll post about products we’d love to add to the house and slowly fill each room until we have an entirely furnished, beautifully decorated virtual eco-friendly home on our hands. (Jennae- I hope you’re listening, cause we’re probably gonna need your help with this one.)

What can you do to help? I’m glad you asked. Anytime you’re in a store or surfing the web and you see something you’d like to see featured in the house, leave us a comment linking to it or email us at kidsstuffworld@gmail.com

Let’s get started, the first order of business is to select the home we’d like to use for this series. Of course we want our readers to be just as involved in the process as we are so we’ve left it up to you to decide.

Here are your choices, comment on which one you’d like to feature as Kids Stuff World’s Green Living Home

Option #1: The Bimini
